Helen Louise Reynolds Poindexter

Helen Louise Reynolds Poindexter, 83, died at her home on October 19, 2018. Helen was born in Lake City, Iowa, on October 22, 1934 to Elvin Gaylord Reynolds and Clara A.( Shoemaker) Reynolds. Helen's father died when she was 10, and her mother and siblings moved to Des Moines and then to a farm near Polk City. She married Keith N. Poindexter in 1951 and helped farm and raise their family. She loved music and often could be heard singing while she worked. When Keith started working at John Deere one of her favorite things was going to dances with friends. Helen worked for Advertising Features and Maurices. She enjoyed baking pies and making the largest dinner rolls around. Helen’s greatest joy in life was taking care of her family. Helen is survived by her; children, Rose (Kim) Severson, David (Deb) Poindexter and Deb Behanish; grandchildren, Christina (Brian) Perlberg, Megan (Ryan) Borts and Kyle (Anni) Severson; sister, Diane Adams; great-grandson on the way, Kai Perlberg; and her beloved cat, Whitey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith and son, Gary.
