Gregory Potter

Our dad, Gregory Lee Potter, 67, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 17, 2018 in Grimes, IA. Greg was born April 24, 1950, to Jack and Betty Potter at Decatur County Hospital in Leon, IA. Raised in Humeston, IA, he was a 1968 Graduate of Mormon Trail Community School and later attended Southwest Community College in Creston, IA. Family was first for Greg and he was grateful for having shared his life with his children, Stephanie Stole and husband, Chris, Ames, IA; Marcus Potter and wife Traci, Philadelphia, TN; Gary Potter and wife, Jennifer, Lamoni IA; Lyle Potter and wife, Stacie, Leon, IA; and grandchildren Seth, Daniel, Kyle, Ethan, Chase, Reese, Amy and Nora. A jack of all trades like his father, he could fix anything and spent time in various roles as a farmer, plumber, laying concrete and working at Jimmy Dean Processing Plant in Osceola, IA. But by far his favorite job was his family which meant taking care and assisting his parents, Jack and Betty as their health declined later in life. Greg is also survived by Joyce Bridger and husband, John, Waukee IA; DeLon Potter and wife, Sherry of Lolo, MT; Jackie Sunde and husband, Dick, Grimes IA; as well as many nieces and nephews and life-long friends. Preceding Greg in death were his parents, Jack and Betty Potter. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made directly to the family of Greg Potter and sent directly to Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory, Urbandale, IA. Family will be present for an informal celebration of life at Caldwell Parrish 8201 Hickman Rd, Urbandale, IA 50322 from 5-7pm on Wednesday, February 21, 2018.
