Greg was born January 21, 1953 in Ft. Campbell, KY, the son of Richard M. and Mary Lou (Hartman) Carter. His marriage to Connie Nichols took place on April 29, 1972 in DeSoto. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Carter and grandfathers, Art Hartman and Jack Carter. During his working career he was a carpenter working various construction jobs. During his free time he enjoyed fishing, camping and weekend getaways with his family. He especially loved westerns, especially John Wayne movies and Gunsmoke. Survivors include his wife, Connie Carter; daughter, Sarah Black and husband, Chad; son, Travis Carter and fiancé, Emily McDowell; 2 grandsons, Dylan and Dustin Black all of Bevington; his mother, Mary Lou Johnson and grandmother, Opal Huddleson both of Winterset; paternal grandmother, Wilma Carter of Country Haven Guest Home. Visitation: Oakland Cemetery Service: Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Memorial: There will be no visitation. Burial: 2:00 p.m, Friday February 18, 2005, at Oakland Cemetery, DeSoto, Iowa
