George Alan Schreck

November 21, 1962 — June 16, 2025

Adel

George was born November 21, 1962 in Carroll, Iowa to Andrew and Ruth (Dentlinger) Schreck. He passed June 16th, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with several medical conditions.

George grew up on the family farm outside Dedham Iowa. He graduated from Carroll Kemper high school in 1981 where he also enjoyed playing basketball. He loved playing slow pitch softball for the Dedham Rookies, Ruan and Tavern, and also with his brother John for Preferred Risk. He made all-state choir which led to being involved in many Adel Community Musicals later in life, then for many years he volunteered his time every week singing at St. Johns Catholic church for masses. Singing with his brothers was his favorite. Most recently at his daughter Ashley’s wedding he got to sing with his daughter Nikki, marking that off his bucket list. He was united in marriage to Kimberly Spatz on June 24, 1989. Together they built their lives in Adel and loved their children Nikki, Ashley and Danny. "Two of them were very dear to him". Kim and George felt that they had achieved their goals as their children are currently successful and happy in life and were looking forward to instilling the same beliefs for their grandchildren. George was Kim’s best friend and the love of her life.

George was the best father. He was a gentle giant and loved big. He made sure that his children were raised with a foundation of faith, he ensured that they were fiercely independent and so deeply loved. He is our biggest cheerleader. He wouldn’t miss a single life event even as his children grew into adults. His pride for his children was unmeasurable.

George found the greatest joy in his family and his 5 precious grandchildren. “WHO’s in my hOOOOUUUse?” followed by having to check to see if “somefing” was under their chins. He had the best “big fat belly” for all the grands to nap and snuggle on. Most recently, George’s world revolved around his grands’ activities. He was always present. He lived for the baseball, basketball, teeball, football and soccer games, the track and swim meets, wrestling matches, dance recitals, choir and band concerts, 4H events, and FCA events.

George took pride in his job as an accountant for Hy-Line North America where he had not only co-workers but several life-long friends.

George is survived by wife Kim Schreck, Children: Nikki (James) West of Adel, Ashley (Mike) Wendell of Adel, and Danny (Kara) Schreck of Perry, Grandchildren: Deacon Schreck, Addison West, Lincoln West, Major Schreck and Ruthie Kay Schreck. Mother-in-law Mary Spatz.
