George David Boothe

George David Boothe, 88, of Winterset, Iowa, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026. He was born in Sommerset, Iowa, on July 15, 1938, to George M. and Iolas Boothe of Indianola, Iowa. He grew up in Warren County and graduated from Indianola High School in 1956. George married Shirley Lane on January 1, 1958, in Norwalk, Iowa.

George proudly served four years in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he worked for the Federal Aviation Administration and later spent many years working in the HVAC industry throughout Iowa.

Above all, George will be remembered for his strong faith, his devotion to his family, and the love and friendship he shared with those around him. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend whose presence touched many lives.

George leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, hard work, and love that will continue through the many lives he influenced.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends, but as he would say, “the best is yet to come.”

George is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Shirley Boothe of Winterset, Iowa; his son, David M. (Crystal) Boothe of Norwalk, Iowa; his son, Wesley (Gail) Boothe of Cape Coral, Florida; and his daughter, Amy (Jon) McQuoid of Winterset, Iowa. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, who brought him great joy and pride.

George was preceded in death by his parents; his four sisters and one brother, his son, Andrew Scott Boothe; and his daughter, Darci Jane Kitchen.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. Burial will take place at a later date at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Memorials may be directed to the family.
