Faye Ann Jenkins, a devoted public servant, loving mother, and lifelong advocate for children, passed away at her home.

Faye Ann was born on August 12, 1957, in Panama City, Panama, where her father was stationed while serving in the U.S. Army. She was raised on a farm in Marengo, Iowa, later lived in Iowa City, Iowa and eventually became a longtime resident of Des Moines, Iowa.

A gifted student and athlete, Faye Ann was honored as the 1975 Iowa State Girls Basketball Covergirl, an early reflection of her drive and determination. She went on to graduate from the University of Iowa and earned her law degree from Drake University.

Faye Ann dedicated her professional life to public service as a Deputy Polk County Attorney, where she worked primarily in the juvenile division. Known for her compassion, she had a deep passion for helping youth in the Des Moines community and spent many years advocating for children and families in need.

Beyond her career, Faye Ann was deeply devoted to her family. She loved reading and was rarely without a new novel, and she enjoyed traveling. Those who knew her well will remember her quick wit, intelligence, and her willingness to help others.

Faye Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Peters and Jo Ann Foley; her sister, Kathy Kahler; and her former spouse, Richard Jenkins.

She is survived by her son, Forest (Ben) Jenkins; her sister, Jeanne Kasal (Steve); brother in law Rick Kahler, her nieces Brei Schmidt, Abby Van Dee, and Sonya Swift; and her nephews Tyler Davis and Anthony Davis, as well as her step-father John Foley, who will all cherish her memory.
