Eric Michael Heimerman, age 40, of Perry, Iowa, passed away on June 26, 2025. Born on December 11, 1984, to Gene and Sue (née Schori) Heimerman, Eric spent his early years in Perry, Iowa, where his deep love for the outdoors and adventurous spirit first began to take root.

Eric was never one to follow the beaten path. A free spirit from a young age, he had a mischievous grin and a knack for living life on his own terms. Eric was an Eagle Scout, where he learned to love the outdoors at a young age. Whether he was wrestling, running cross country, or occasionally playing hooky, Eric embraced his youth with an energy and independence that carried through the rest of his life.

After graduating from Perry High School, Eric pursued his passion for working with his hands by earning an associate’s degree in carpentry from Iowa Central Community College. He began his career as a trim carpenter, helping to build homes and leaving behind pieces of craftsmanship that still stand today.

His talents and ambition eventually took him to Bozeman, Montana, where he served as a Construction Superintendent. Surrounded by towering mountains and endless wilderness, Eric found a place that matched his soul. He thrived in the rugged beauty of Montana-snowboarding on fresh powder, hiking mountain trails, and reveling in the thrill of the great outdoors. Always up for an adventure, he truly came alive in nature.

Eric shared his Montana chapter with his beloved dog Sadie, a loyal companion and kindred spirit. He had a lifelong love for dogs and was known to have a special gift as a trainer and caretaker. His bond with Sadie was deep, and their companionship brought him great comfort and joy.

Eventually, Eric returned to Iowa, continuing his work in carpentry and bringing his experiences and stories from the mountains with him. He remained deeply connected to nature, often kayaking, camping, hiking, and continuing to attend music festivals with his friends-always chasing freedom, beauty, and good company.

Eric will be remembered for his wild heart, his generosity of spirit, and the way he inspired others to live a little more freely and love a little more deeply. He had an undeniable spark-untamed and unforgettable. Most of all, as a devoted father, he passed on his love of nature to his children. The times they spent together at the sandbars on the river were unforgettable.

He is survived by his children, Felix and Hetti; parents, Gene and Sue Heimerman; sister, Jessi Heimerman; niece, Jadyn; nephew, Jaxon; numerous friends and family; and his faithful dog, Sisu.

Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents; and his dog, Sadie, whose pawprints remain etched on his heart.
