Elsie Mary Crosswhite

Elsie Crosswhite, age 105 of Grimes, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at the Kennybrook Village in Grimes, IA. A private family graveside will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery near Nevinville, IA. Online condolences may be left at www.carrisfuneralhome.com. Elsie Hoskins was born August 23, 1918, to Mattie (Yarrington) and Walter Hoskins in Union County, Iowa. She had three siblings, Ralph, Wilbur, and Alice. She attended local schools and graduated from Corning, Iowa High School. She attended Northwest Missouri Teachers College. She alternated working as a teacher, and returning to school, graduating in 1963. She taught in schools in Union, Adair, and Guthrie County. She enjoyed teaching first graders to read. In 1944 she married William Crosswhite, they had two children, Rita Gottschalk, and Pat Larsen. Elsie is survived by her two daughters, four grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
