Ella "Susie" E. Culver

Ella “Susie” E. Culver, 91, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2016 at Kavanagh House Hospice. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 27 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory, Urbandale. A Rosary service will follow visitation at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 28 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Des Moines. Susie received her undergraduate degree from Mississippi State Women’s College and went on to receive her master’s degree from Vanderbilt University. She worked as a dietician at Iowa Methodist Medical Center and the Des Moines Public School Systems. Susie was a longtime resident of Beaverdale. Susie is survived by her son, Charles (Jo-Ann Shibles) Ambelang; daughter, Julie (Brian) Duff; siblings, Amanda Gates, Jo Franklin, Robert Hudnall and Sandra Boundes; grandchildren, Katie, Kelsey and Sean Duff, Marty, Josh, Madison and Cassie Ambelang; great-grandchildren, Joscelyn, Mason and Quinten Ambelang. She was preceded in death by her husband, John. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Central Iowa – Kavanagh House.
