Elizabeth Anne Chayet

Elizabeth Anne Chayet, age 80, of Perry, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the EveryStep Kavanagh Hospice House in Des Moines.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Violet Hill Cemetery, located at 1700 Park Street, Perry, IA 50220. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family and sent to Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, 1721 Park Street, Perry, IA 50220. Condolences may be shared online at www.caldwellparrish.com.

Elizabeth was born on October 30, 1944, in Fort Benning, Georgia, to Richard E. and Leonora (Naberhaus) Rothmeyer. She was raised in Roselle, Iowa, and attended Holy Angels School in Roselle, Kuemper High School in Carroll, and later St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Perry.

On January 31, 1966, she was united in marriage to Norton Barry Chayet in New York City.

Elizabeth was a devoted member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Perry. Throughout her career, she worked for Western Union in New York City, NY, AMREP in Rio Rancho, NM, and Principal Financial Group in Des Moines, IA.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: David (Kim) Chayet of Shorewood, MN, Jeffrey Chayet of Urbandale, IA, and Barry Chayet of Perry, IA; stepdaughter, Randi Peskin of Parkland, FL; grandchildren: Tiffany, Christopher, Benjamin, Lauren, Zachary, and Kenadi; and step-grandchildren: Alex, Melissa, and Noah. Elizabeth is also survived by her brothers: John (Paula) Rothmeyer, Ronald (Sheila) Rothmeyer, Vincent (Debbie) Rothmeyer, and Gerald (Kayla) Rothmeyer; sisters: Barbara (Joe) Butler, Marilyn (Allen) Long, and Donna Clausen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Leonora Rothmeyer; her husband, Norton Chayet; her brother, Richard Rothmeyer; and sisters: Rose Bingaman, Margaret Ure, and Ruth VonGuerard.
