Donna “Sue” Sharon, age 88, of West Des Moines, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, on February 10, 1937, she was the daughter of Donald and Marian (née Disbrow) Berry.
Sue grew up in Des Moines and graduated from East High School. Driven by a desire to help others, she pursued her nursing education at the Methodist School of Nursing and went on to serve with compassion and dedication as a nurse for several years.
Later, Sue embarked on a second career with the Des Moines Register, rising through the ranks to become both a district and zone manager. Her strong work ethic and perseverance were evident throughout her life, especially as she worked tirelessly to raise her two sons.
A gifted musician, Sue shared her love of music by giving piano lessons for many years. Her musical talents also found a home at the Des Moines Mennonite Church, where she served as organist and sang in the choir.
In 1987, Sue suffered a major accident that changed the course of her life. Despite the many challenges that followed, she faced each day with extraordinary courage and resilience, living with grace and strength for 38 more years.
Sue will be remembered for her faith, her musical spirit, and her unwavering devotion to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, kindness, and quiet strength.
Sue is survived by her sons, David Sharon and Brent Sharon; grand-children, Ty, Alex, Trey and Samantha; and great-grandchildren, Hailey Rose, Harper Sue and Calvin Anthony.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale. The Visitation will be at 10:00 am, and the Memorial Service will be at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
