Born in Des Moines, IA on October 5, 1933, to parents Mildred and Raymond Bolten. Diane grew up with a love of learning, leading her to pursue a college degree at Drake University during the 1950s when few women were entering postsecondary education. Diane was a proud member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. It was at Drake, where Diane met her husband, Keith Miller.
The couple married on June 16, 1956, and they later moved to Perry where they raised their daughter, Joyce, and opened Perry Walgreen Drug and Medicap Pharmacy. Keith passed away in August of 1997.
Diane was a woman with many interests, but she especially loved the water. She was an accomplished sailor and often sailed solo well into her 80’s. She was a member of the Saylorville Yacht Club, earning an award in 2011. She looked for ways to make boating a part of her life for over half a century, also enjoying several cruises. She enjoyed many fishing trips at Leech Lake in Northern Minnesota.
A magnetic personality with a taste for adventure, Diane loved to travel. She visited all 50 US states, making new friends on each bus tour. At home, she enjoyed winning at cards, participating in bridge club, sharing the latest news with her friends over breakfast at Hy-Vee, and cross-stitching/knitting/crocheting projects for people she loved.
Diane made time for those she cared about, especially her daughter Joyce (Miller) Ware (Mike Ware) and granddaughter Tess Ware, who are left to cherish her memory.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents Mildred (Ethel) and Raymond Bolten and her husband Keith. She will be laid to rest in Perry alongside him.
