Delila Kae Deardorff, born on June 14, 1949, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, transitioned peacefully to her eternal home on May 12, 2025, while surrounded by love at Edencrest of Adel. She lived a life that was a testament to faith, joy, and unwavering dedication, both in her family and in her service to others.
Delila embarked on a remarkable journey serving her country in the United States Air Force, where she cherished a distinguished career lasting "20 years plus 1 day." As a trailblazer and one of the first women to serve as a recruiter for the Air Force, she displayed incredible strength and commitment. Her legacy continues to inspire women to pursue their dreams and break barriers.
Delila was a proud graduate of National Louis University, McClean, VA Campus, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management in 1989, after having completed her earlier education in Aberdeen. Her academic achievements mirrored her zest for life and desire for growth.
Known for her delightful personality, Delila was the life of every gathering, often referred to as the "Life of the Party." Her outgoing nature and her unique talent for bringing smiles to strangers were testaments to her caring heart. She loved fiercely and was known to have a big spirit that enveloped everyone around her. Sunday meals at her home with her beloved family filled her with happiness—moments she cherished above all.
Her hobbies also reflected her creative talents. An avid "Quester" and an active decorator for Hope Church, Delila dedicated herself to her community. As an Alpha leader and having taught Core Classes, embodying her role as a mentor and guide to many. Her leadership as past president of the National Guard Officers' Women's Association highlighted her commitment to serve and uplift others.
Delila’s loving spirit will continue to shine through her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Tom Deardorff; her cherished children, Krisanne (Michael) Myers, Stayce (Juan) Cardona, and Dyana Hill; and her adored grandchildren, Luke (Sarah), Brendan, Ryan, Joshua, AJ, Omar, Claire, Owen, Nyomie, Jaydan, Jazmyn, and Jocelyn. She also leaves behind her dear brother, Ron (Azalia) Doering, along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts. Special mention goes to her close friend, Beverly Olson, who shared many beautiful moments with Delila.
Delila was preceded in death by her loving parents, Marvin and Helen Weisz; her dear sister, DeRae Wilson; and her beloved son, Jesse Deardorff. Their spirits now walk with her, rejoicing in the bond they shared and the faith that promises their reunion.
A visitation will take place on May 21, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory - Adel Chapel in Adel, Iowa. The funeral service to honor Delila's life will be held on May 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines, Iowa with a luncheon and time of fellowship to follow at the Lutheran Church of Hope. Her final resting place will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa, on May 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with full military honors given by the Air Force Honor Guard from Offutt Air Force Base, Bellevue NE.
As we gather to celebrate her life, we will remember Delila Kae Deardorff as a beacon of light, a testament to faith and family, an emblem of creativity, and a heart that embraced everyone around her. May her soul rest in peace, forever wrapped in the love she so beautifully shared.
