Deacon Henry George Robinson Jr. (81) passed away on July 25, 2024. A public visitation will be held at Christ Apostolic Temple (1230 E 17th St, Des Moines, IA 50316) on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Glendale Cemetery (4909 University Ave, Des Moines, IA 50311)
Deacon Henry George Robinson Jr. was born to the late Henry G. Robinson Sr. and Ida Lee Robinson-Holmes on March 5, 1943 in Des Moines, IA. The Lord called him home on July 25th, 2024.
As a child, Deacon Henry Robinson moved to Omaha, NE where he attended Tech High. After growing up in Omaha, he eventually moved back to Des Moines, IA.
On August 1st,1970, Henry was united in marriage with the love of his life, the late Clarice (Jenkins) Robinson, in Des Moines, IA in the presence of family and friends.
Deacon Robinson was employed by Pittsburgh Des Moines Steel as a welder for many years. He was also known as the local “handyman” by all of his family, friends and his church, doing various maintenance and landscaping projects for others. He loved to help out others and give back. Deacon Henry and his wife both had a great love for children and he could always be found helping his wife out with their in-home daycare. After having three children of their own, Deacon Robinson and his wife also became foster parents and adopted three beautiful children.
On May 16th, 1982, Deacon Henry heard the call of the Lord Jesus Christ and received the gift of the Holy Ghost at Christ Apostolic Temple, under the leadership of the late Bishop Jeremiah Reed. He loved to serve the Lord and did so in many different ways. Over the years, he was a van driver, pastor’s assistant, and maintenance man. He was a dedicated and faithful member of his church.
Deacon Robinson loved music and played the piano and guitar. He was a truly joyful person who was full of life. You could always count on him for a good story and he had the most memorable laugh. He was a devoted family man, who cherished spending time with family and friends alike. He enjoyed outside activities and you could find him either riding bikes with his son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, or at the pool in the summer months.
Deacon Robinson is preceded in death by his parents; Henry G. Robinson Sr, and Ida Lee Robinson-Holmes, his wife; Clarice (Jenkins) Robinson; brothers James Smith, Kenneth Smith and Jerry Smith, and sisters; Dr. Johanne Williams, and Jackie McGhee.
Left to cherish his memory are his siblings; Darlyne White, Sharon Wallace, Elaine May, Carol Seals, LaDonna Robinson, Ronald Robinson, his children; Raymon Anthony Jenkins Sr, Sherry Renee Robinson, Clay Robinson, DeMarcus Robinson, Lakayla Robinson and Shantelle Robinson, Grandchildren; Renisha Robinson, Latia Robinson, Derius Jenkins, Ravontay Robinson, Deonray Robinson, Taylor Fox, Keelan Jones, Anthony Jenkins Jr, Amina Robinson, La’Maje Robinson, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
