David Allen Countryman

David Allen Countryman, 66, of Perry, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer.

David was born on September 8, 1960, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Donald Wayne and Susie Mae (Bainter) Countryman. He grew up in Redfield and later made Perry his home.

On June 21, 2019, David married Kara Murray in Greene County, Iowa. Together, they blended their families and shared the years that followed.

David had a love for music and a personality all his own. He especially wanted those who knew and loved him to remember his sarcasm and dark sense of humor, qualities that were simply part of who he was.

David is survived by his wife, Kara Countryman; his six children: Susan, Lacasta, Dave II, Adrianna (Walt), Elijah, and Alexander; three grandchildren: Eva, Eliana, and Eli; as well as many other loved ones and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Susie Countryman; and his brother, Delbert “Duff” Lawrence Countryman. Duff’s decision to donate his body to medical education inspired David to do the same, and David chose to donate his body to the Des Moines University Body Donor Program.
