Dallas Joseph McAtee, 91, of Perry, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the King’s Gardens Campus of Perry Lutheran Homes.
Dallas was born on December 30, 1934, to Charles Dalton McAtee and Gladys Olivia Thompson in Max, North Dakota. He was one of nine children.
Dallas graduated from Jesup Community High School in 1952.
He was united in marriage to Goldie Jane Peyton at the Methodist Church in Independence, Iowa, on August 25, 1956. During their 69 years of marriage, they were blessed with 6 children: Kevin McAtee, Douglas McAtee, Julie (Roger) Belgarde, Brett (Deanna) McAtee, Lynne (Roger) Renfrow, and Mark (Jeri) McAtee.
After high school, Dallas worked at John Deere in Waterloo. He later quit John Deere and spent the next 60 years farming.
His favorite hobbies were fishing, playing cards, and shooting pool.
Dallas was preceded in death by his two sons, Douglas and Mark; parents; and siblings: Fern Fenner, Ardis Hickey, Hazel Eldridge, Harry McAtee, Darlene Ciesielski, Donna Masteller, Marlys Fuller, and Roy McAtee.
He is survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials will be directed to Perry Lutheran Homes in Perry, Iowa.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.caldwellparrish.com.
