Curtis Clyde Allen, known affectionately as Curt, passed away on July 30, 2026, at the age of 89 in Osceola, Iowa. Born on May 6, 1937, in Winterset, Iowa, he was the son to the late Frank Ogden Allen and Dorothy Elizabeth Shaffer Allen. Curt was a cherished member of his community, known for his outgoing and personable nature.

Curt married Connie Marlene Piatt on February 21, 1960, and together they welcomed their son, Bradley. His family was the joy of his life, especially his time spent with his grandchildren and the ever growing number of great and great-great-grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife Connie, of Osceola, Iowa; son, Bradley Craig Allen (Mary), of Osceola, Iowa; grandchildren, Christopher Ryan Allen (Calleen), of Osceola, Iowa, Nicholas James Allen, of Creston, Iowa, Jeremiah Cale Givens (Sue), of Kimberly, Idaho, Chandra Ann Tyer (Brad), of Winterset, Iowa; sister Laura Marie Watts, of Winterset, Iowa; along with many great and great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Curt was preceded in death by his parents and two infant sons.

Curt's educational journey began in a one-room schoolhouse and continued through Winterset High School, culminating in coursework at the University of Iowa. His varied career included early stints at The Winterset Madisonian and farming in Madison County. He later transitioned into selling and servicing mobile homes, eventually becoming a real estate broker and owner of five mobile home parks. He concluded his professional life working on the farm alongside his son Bradley.

Outside of work, Curt was deeply involved in his community. He served as a member of the Earlham School Board, was a past chairman of the Covered Bridge Festival, and a member of the Lions Club. His hobbies included a passion for Minneapolis Moline tractors and traveling, having visited Spain, Italy, France and even standing atop the Eiffel Tower.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. Family and friends can pay their respects during visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 am, with family present from 9:30 am. Burial will follow at the Winterset Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a future designation. Curt's legacy of warmth, community involvement, and family devotion will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
