Colin James Costa, 28, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on May 29, 2026.

Colin was born on May 2, 1998, at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, to Angela Brown and Jamie Costa. He was preceded in death by his father, Jamie Costa, his Uncle, Walter Brown, and his Grandfather, John Brown and Grandmother, Myrna Brown.

Colin was baptized in the Christian faith at Capitol City Church. From an early age, he loved video games and computers, Star Wars, playing cowboys and Indians, and listening to his grandfather's stories about military service. He also developed a lifelong passion for history that remained with him throughout his life.

Colin graduated from East High School in 2016. Following graduation, he continued his education and began working toward his associate degree with plans to further his studies and earn a bachelor's degree.

Colin and Jordyn first met in middle school. Their friendship grew into a relationship shortly after graduation, and they were married on New Year's Eve in 2018. Soon after, Colin began his career in the United States Army, graduating as an Infantryman (11B). His military service took him and his wife to Washington State, where they built a life filled with adventure, laughter, and countless memories together. Among their greatest joys was welcoming their son, Luca, into the world. Later, their family was completed with the arrival of their daughter, Meadow.

Above all else, Colin was a devoted father. His life became complete when Luca and Meadow entered the world. Some of his children's favorite memories will forever be of their dad bringing imagination to life-battling with lightsabers alongside his son, Luca, and becoming the prince in every fairytale his daughter, Meadow, could dream up. His love for his children was evident in the time he spent with them, the laughter he shared with them, and the memories he created that will remain with them always.

Colin could make anyone in a room laugh, and he always tried to be there for everyone to the best of his abilities. Colin loved music, he was an old soul who loved 60's rock all the way to 2000's country and R&B. He loved Motorcycles and hiking. He loved nature and all the beauty it had to offer.

Colin proudly served his country in the United States military. His service reflected his sense of duty, courage, and commitment to something greater than himself. Those who knew him recognized both his strength and his willingness to stand up for the people he cared about.

Colin is survived by his wife, Jordyn Costa; his son, Luca Costa; his daughter, Meadow Costa; his mother, Angela Brown; his sister, Anissa Brown; his brother, Nico Costa; and many extended family members, friends, and loved ones whose lives were touched by his presence.

Though his time here was far too short, Colin's memory will live on through the stories shared by those who loved him, the lessons he taught, and the two beautiful children who carry pieces of him forward each day.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

There will be a visitation on Friday, June 5, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a Funeral Service following, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home (8201 Hickman Rd. Urbandale, IA 50322).
