Christopher Scott Greenwood, 38, passed away on July 6, 2026, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Christopher was born on December 20, 1987, in Frankfurt, Germany, to Scott Greenwood and Wendy Michel.
Christopher attended North High School in Des Moines, graduating with the Class of 2006. Following high school, he began working at John Deere before starting a career with the Brotherhood of Carpenters in Altoona, where he dedicated the remainder of his working life.
Christopher's greatest joy in life was being a father to his daughter, Hayden. Although he and his wife, Michelle Little later divorced, the greatest blessing from their marriage was Hayden. She meant everything to him. Before becoming a father, Christopher never imagined how much he would love having a child, but from the moment Hayden entered his life, she became his whole world. No matter what they were doing, he simply cherished every moment they spent together.
An avid outdoorsman, Christopher loved spending time fishing and working on cars. One of his proudest possessions was his 1986 Chevy Camaro, a project he and his father restored together.
Christopher was quiet by nature, but those who knew him best will always remember his infectious laugh and kind heart. He valued the people in his life deeply, and many of his friends became like family. Christopher was genuine, honest, and unapologetically himself. He spoke his mind, stood by what he believed, and never felt the need to be anyone other than who he was.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Hayden; his parents, Scott Greenwood and Wendy Michel; his brother, Steven (Sarah) Michel; his sisters, Jessica (Pat) Faiferlick, Brittany (Rob) Nook, and Mackenzie Mulanax; his grandmothers, Kathie Greenwood and Mary J. Greenwood; his aunts and uncles, Brian (Dawn) Heath and John (Emily) Michel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Mary Ann Greenwood; his grandfathers, Ralph Greenwood and Dennis Michel; his cousins, Alex Heath and Blake Hoeppner; his friends Josh Savage and Brandin Krisinger; and his beloved dog, Choco.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help support Christopher's daughter, Hayden, and her future.
A visitation will be held at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory (8201 Hickman Rd. Urbandale, IA 50322) on Saturday, July 11, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., with a funeral service immediately following.
