Carolyn Wright Hughes, a shining light of love and devotion, left a legacy on the lives of all who knew her. Born at home on Valentine's Day, 1925, to Harvey and Lucille Wright, she was raised in a 2-story brick house on the west side of Winterset, Iowa. She attended college in Tarkio, MO, where a chance encounter with Ron Hughes on a bus sparked a romance that would span nearly 75 years.
As a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Carolyn's heart overflowed with love for her family. She and Ron built a life in Urbandale, Iowa, where they raised four children and nurtured a legacy of kindness and compassion. They retired to Longmont, Colorado in 1980. Her faith was the bedrock of her life, guiding her through joys and challenges alike, and her life was a testament to the power of true love and faith.
Carolyn's remarkable life was marked by milestones and memories that will be cherished by her family for generations to come. She passed at 100 years old, surrounded by the love of her family and the peace of Morningstar Assisted Living in Arvada, CO.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron; parents, Harvey and Lucille Wright; half- sister Catherine Wright; half-brother Harrell Wright; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Joy Hughes; and her grandson, Cole Hughes.
Carolyn is survived by her loving family, including her sons, Terry Hughes and his wife Terry Kimball, and Jay Hughes; her daughter, Cathy Hughes; her grandchildren, Cindy Hosman and her husband Paul, Sabrina Tuttle and her husband Travis, Steven Hughes and his wife Jordyn; great-grandchildren Sean and wife Kylara, Alissa, Claire, Lylah, Haiden, Regyn, Jasper, Grayson, Pyper and Wyatt; and great-great-grandchildren Owen, Lukas and Myka.
As we mourn her transition into God's embrace, we take comfort in knowing that she has joined her beloved Ron and her family who went before her, where they are all now basking in the radiance of Heaven. Her enduring legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who will continue to share her love, kindness, and faith with the world.
