Carol Ann Morris, 81, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025. Born on January 19, 1944, to Jean and Chester Batterton in Port Huron, Michigan. Carol lived a life rooted in faith, creativity, generosity, and deep love for her family.

A fiercely entrepreneurial spirit, Carol worked as a beautician for many years, running her own business with pride and independence. She had a gift for creativity, whether painting, drawing, arranging flowers, or “playing in the dirt” in her garden. Her handmade wreaths and artwork brought beauty and joy to many.

Above all, Carol was a woman of unwavering Pentecostal Christian faith and longtime member of The Open Bible Church. Her relationship with Jesus Christ shaped every part of her life. She lived with compassion and grace, always ready to listen, offer support, and uplift others. Carol had a generous heart—she was known for giving the shirt off her back, quite literally, to those in need.

Her sense of humor was infectious, often quoting Steve Martin’s SNL skits or cracking jokes to make others laugh. Carol made everyone around her feel seen, heard, and valued. She was the ultimate cheerleader to her grandchildren, encouraging them to be fully themselves and to be proud of who they are.

She is survived by her children Teresa Curnes, Marcia (Chris)Gruber and Matt Morris. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Jessica (Tim) Nelsen, Megan (Josh) Fiers, Sydney Curnes, Madison Gruber, Samantha Gruber, and Bailey Brewster. Her legacy continues through her cherished great-grandchildren: Rowan, Edwin, Liam, and Lainey Louise. Carol is also survived by her brother Gary (Carol) Batterton, and Sister, Sharon (Ron) Putney and many nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Morris, her father, Chester Batterton, stepfather, Ted Batterton, mother, Jean Batterton and brother Don Batterton.

A celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Sunday, June 29, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 PM with the funeral beginning at 3:00 PM.

In lieu of gifts, donations may be made to The Helping Hand of Warren County Food and Clothing Pantry (109 E Clinton Ave, Indianola, IA 50125), a cause dear to Carol’s heart.

Carol’s light will live on in the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
