Beverly Jean Nelsen

Beverly Jean Nelsen, 90, passed away on May 28th, 2025 at Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City, Iowa. She was born on February, 5th, 1935 in Coon Rapids. She was the daughter of Thomas and Goldie (Pierson) Pittman.

In 1950 she married the love of her life, Raymond Nelsen. Raymond and Beverly enjoyed many wonderful years together dancing and riding their motorcycles across the country. They made their home in Bayard, Iowa where they raised their three children and later moved to Perry. Beverly was a certificated nursing assistant for many years. She found great pride in her work. Beverly the primary nurturer for her family and often the first person her grandkids ran to when hurt. In her spare time, she handmade many treasured items for her friends and family. She loved reading books, especially biographies.

Most of all, Beverly loved her family and loved spending time with her all her grandchildren. She enjoyed camping together at Saylorville, helping with their homework, and caring for them as often as she could. Beverly also had the pleasure of becoming a great-great grandmother in 2023.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her Thomas Pittman (brother), Evelyn (Alfred) Brauckman (sister), Lavonne Waage (sister), Roy Pittman (brother), Robert Nelsen (son), Ronald Nelsen (son), and Patricia Ragner (niece).

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Linda Mozena of Perry, IA, Shirley Pittman (sister-in-law) of Yale, Iowa, grandchildren Kim (John) Mozena of Webster City, IA, Missy (Rosemary) Mozena of Des Moines, IA, Lori (Shane)Tuttle of Winterset, IA, Tammy (Jason) Nelsen of Ankeny, IA, Matt (Kelsie) Nelsen of Ankeny, IA, Great Grandchildren: Taylor, Nathan, Elijah, Raevyn, Samantha, Andrew, Sophia, and Ava and great-great granddaughter Olivia.

Beverly's visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Perry Chapel. Burial will follow at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. Reception will be held following the cemetery at the Pattee Park in Perry, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
