Born on July 6, 1945, to Clarence and Ella (McKinney) Forret, Kay grew up with roots that carried through her entire life - strong, grounded, and deeply connected to the people and places she loved.
In February of 1965, she married Dean Boston, beginning a partnership that would span decades and build a family that became her greatest joy.
Together they raised four children: Brett Boston, Brenda (Matt) Dryer, Shane (Lori) Boston, and Holly (Kevin) Killmer. But if you asked Kay, her family only grew more beautiful with time. Her grandchildren, Brittany (Jaymes) Bral, Brody Boston, Ella Dryer, Betsy Dryer, Molly Dryer, Kade Killmer, Macy Killmer (Tanner Burgin), and Kain Killmer, were the light of her life, along with her three great-grandchildren who brought her so much pride and joy.
If you knew Kay, you knew she belonged outside whether tending to her yard or cheering on her grandkids at their sporting events. She found peace with a great grandbaby in her arms, playing cards and games with those she loved, and sharing memories with close friends at the lake and on family vacations.
She showed up for her family in a way that never needed to be announced; at games, activities, and everyday moments. Her presence was steady, her love unmistakable. You could count on her to be there, often with a smile, encouragement, or a simple “hey big boy” that made everything feel right.
Some of her most treasured memories were made at the Perry Sales Pavilion, where friendships were formed and laughter came easy. It wasn’t just a place—it was part of her story, filled with people she cared about deeply.
Kay had a way of making people feel at home. Not in big, loud ways—but in the quiet, lasting ones that stay with you long after.
On Friday, March 27, 2026, she left behind a family who will carry her with them daily —in the way they love, the way they show up, and the way they find joy in the little things. And now, you can imagine her reunited with the love of her life, Dean, walking hand in hand again after all these years.
Mom, we love you. We miss you. And we’ll always be trying to find our way back to the warmth you gave so freely.
