Barbara Ann Pittman, lovingly known as “Barb” or “Barbie”, age 72, of Jefferson, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by the love of her family on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Raccoon River Pet Rescue in Barb’s memory. Online condolences may be left at www.caldwellparrish.com.
Barb was born on November 4, 1953, in Perry, the daughter of Junior and Phyllis (Cornelius) Pittman. Over the years, she worked at the Rowley Memorial Masonic Home as a recreational specialist, Casey’s in Perry making pizzas, Casey’s in Jefferson making donuts, and managed Dollar General stores in Perry and Grimes for many years before retiring in 2016.
In 2018, Barb met someone who brought tremendous happiness into her life, Jim Grace. The years they shared together were truly the best years of Barb’s life. Together, they enjoyed eight wonderful years filled with love, laughter, adventure, and companionship.
Barb was a free spirit with a creative soul. She loved crafting, painting rocks, making bead curtains and necklaces, embroidery, and sewing. She found joy in the outdoors - fishing, camping, mushroom hunting, bird watching, and especially watching hummingbirds. Music was always a big part of Barb’s life, and she especially loved listening to Neil Young. She also enjoyed watching baseball and cheering on the Iowa Cubs and Chicago Cubs.
Known for her stubborn streak and adventurous spirit, Barb truly lived life on the edge. She adored her beloved fur babies and loved dressing them in everything from dresses and pajamas to swimsuits and life jackets. Above all else, Barb treasured her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment she spent with them.
The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Barb’s lifelong friend, Kris Rolston, for the loving care, support, and attention she gave Barb during her final days.
Left to cherish her memory are her partner, Jim Grace of Jefferson; daughter, Danielle Dalton of Madrid; three grandsons, Devon, Joshua, and Landyn; two sisters, Vicki (Gene) Taylor of Perry and Gloria (Jim) Conrad of Ogden; along with many other relatives and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Junior and Phyllis Pittman; and her two brothers, Mike and Tim Pittman.
