Barbara was born November 30, 1934 in Lorimor, Iowa, the daughter of Joe and Mildred (Courtney) Dowler. She was a 1953 graduate of Lorimor High School and later married Charles ‘Bill’ King on August 10, 1953 in Fort Bellvoir, Virginia. She lived a time in Indianola, Dubuque and Sioux City and retired in Lorimor. Barbara is survived by her husband, Charles ‘Bill’ of Lorimor; a son, Mark King and wife, Jamie of Fort Wayne, IN; two daughters, Debby Goble of Afton and Sherri King also of Afton; two brothers, Dick Dowler and wife, Bonnie of Cole Camp, MO and Ray Dean Dowler of Ankeny; eight grandchildren (Rachel, Michelle, Megan, Kerry, Niki, Joe, Stacy, and Sarah); and two great grandchildren (Ashly and Brodie). She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Robert Dowler; and a grandson, Ryan Shields. Barbara was a homemaker and prior to her declining health, enjoyed volunteering her time with many community projects. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary, the NRA and she was a strong believer in God. Barbara died Sunday, January 28, 2007 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She was 72. Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday where family will be present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. February 1, 2007 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, Iowa.
