April Lostroh, 62, of Winterset, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.
April was born on February 10, 1963, in Ventura, California, to Joseph Blackstone and Ester (Myers) Umphrey. She lived a rich and meaningful life, spending time in California, Germany, Texas, Lincoln and Plattsmouth, Nebraska, and finally settling in Winterset, Iowa.
On August 31, 1991, April was united in marriage to Gene Lostroh in Cave Junction, Oregon. A devoted homemaker, she also found deep fulfillment as a preschool teacher, pack leader for the Cub Scouts, and assistant leader for the Girl Scouts. Her kindness, creativity, and dedication to children and community left a lasting impression on many.
April is survived by her loving husband, Gene Lostroh of Winterset; her son, Trent Lostroh of Winterset; her daughter, Misty Lostroh of Winterset; her sister, Jane Fagan of Texas; and her mother and father.
