Anna Mae Hougham, 94, of Perry, Iowa, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Dallas County Hospital in Perry. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025, at First Christian Church in Perry, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Richland Cemetery in Bagley with lunch and fellowship to follow at the Jamaica Community Building. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Born on July 31, 1931, in Jamaica, Iowa, Anna was the daughter of Charles and Verna (Nicholson) Godfrey. She married James Delmar Hougham in Perry on March 1, 1949. A devoted homemaker for many years, she dedicated her life to her family.
In earlier years, Anna served as a 4-H leader and a member of the Jamaica Methodist Church and the Guthrie County Genealogy Society. She found joy in rocking loved ones in her chair and had a passion for birdwatching, rock collecting, gardening, picking wildflowers, and coloring. A lifelong learner, she valued education, loved reading, and was an avid genealogist.
She is survived by her daughters, Vickey Anderson and Susie Mickelson; grandchildren, Tonya Anderson, Tracy Anderson, Whitney Anderson, and Chloe Anderson; sister, Phoebe Renslow; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Verna Godfrey; her husband, James Hougham; her grandson, Adam Anderson; and her sister, Mary Lou McDowell.
