Andrew Eugene Verwers

Andrew Eugene Verwers, a gentle soul cherished by many, departed this earthly realm on June 23, 2025, in his beloved hometown of Des Moines, where he first took his breath on April 19, 1972. His life, albeit marked by struggles, was a testament to the strength of character and compassion that defined him.

A steadfast advocate for the underprivileged, Andrew dedicated much of his time and efforts alongside his dear brother, Aaron Verwers, to uplift those in need. Both brothers became beacons of hope within the homeless community, tirelessly working to make a meaningful change for those who often went unheard and unseen. Despite the hardships they faced themselves, their commitment to helping others remained unwavering, a true reflection of Andrew's deep-seated belief in the innate worth of every individual.

Andrew's accomplishments extended beyond his altruistic endeavors. He took pride in his educational journey, having graduated from the Des Moines public school system, an achievement that laid the foundation for his compassionate spirit. He carried this sense of duty and loyalty into his work as a dishwasher at Noodle Zoo, where he embraced each day with a commitment to serve, reflecting the humility and grace that characterized his life.

In the quiet moments away from his advocacy, Andrew found solace in the arts. A talented artist, he relished in drawing nature scenes and quaint cabins, capturing the beauty of the world around him. His creative heart was a sanctuary, a place where he expressed the joys of life and the serenity of nature.

Above all, Andrew's love for the Lord illuminated his path. He embraced faith with a fervor that resonated in his interactions — ever striving to embody the values of kindness and support that he held dear.

He leaves behind his devoted mother, Linda Stanger, and his loving sister, Kelli Verwers who will forever carry the light of his spirit in their hearts; son, Caleb Verwers, and his daughter, Ariel Verwers, who received so much of their fathers great qualities; as well as a niece, Kailee Verwers who became more of a sibling to Caleb and Ariel. 

Andrew also joins his father, William Verwers, and brother, Aaron Verwers, in rest, as he embarks on an eternal journey filled with peace and love.
