Dean Baker

Albert “Dean” Baker was born May 1, 1938, in Winterset, Iowa, to Albert and Maxine (Kirk) Baker. He passed away on July 15, 2026, with his family by his side.

Dean graduated from St. Charles High School in 1956 and was baptized as a teenager at the Church of Christ in St. Charles.

On May 23, 1959, Dean married Marjorie Jean Henson, with their good friends, Jim Marsh and Kathy Beaman, standing beside them. Together, Dean and Marjorie raised six children in Winterset: Tom (Nancy), John (Bea), Mike (Sheri), Richard (Sheila), Pat (Anne), and Beth.

Dean worked at Grip-Tite Manufacturing for 40 years. He was a devoted father who took great pride in supporting his children. He helped his boys with their derby cars, supported Richard with the Natural Athlete Strength Association, and encouraged Beth in her many endeavors.

In his free time, Dean enjoyed attending auctions and garage sales and refinishing antiques.

Left to cherish Dean’s memory are his children, Tom (Nancy), Mike (Sheri), Richard (Sheila), Pat (Anne), and Beth; daughter-in-law, Bea; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Don (Judy) Henson and Ron Taylor; many nieces and nephews; and his good friends, Jim Marsh and Kathy Beaman.

Waiting to welcome Dean into heaven are his wife, Marjorie; son, John; parents, Albert and Maxine; grandsons, Isiah and Jeremiah; and many other beloved family members.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Winterset Cemetery. 

Memorials may be directed to the family for a future designation.
