Kenny Collins, 73, of Winterset, Iowa, died Monday, November 3, 2014 at his residence in rural Winterset. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, November 7, at the First Christian Church in Winterset with Rev. Kevin and Rev. Sue Blader officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery with Masonic graveside services. Kenny was born on May 17, 1941, at Granger, Iowa to Tim and Joy (Fairholm) Collins. He was a 1959 graduate of Winterset High School and was married on May 2, 1965 at Indianola to Karen S. Wilson. Kenny had been a resident of Winterset for most of his life and worked as a barber and as a house pullet manager at Rose Acres Farms. He also farmed and raised horses as a pastime. He had been a member of the First Christian Church, Masonic Evening Star Lodge #43, Eastern Star Chapter #180, and the Scottish Rite. He performed and held several positions through his church (especially every opportunity in which he could cook) and was an avid fisherman. Kenny is survived by his wife, Karen Collins of Winterset; sons, Kent Collins of Winterset and Kevin (Lori) Collins of Farmington, MN; mother, Joy (Fairholm) Collins of Winterset; brother, Nolan (JoAnn) Collins of Winterset; sister, Carolyn (Larry) Wilkinson of Truro; and grandchildren, Gabe, Derek, and Abby. He was preceded in death by his father, Tim Collins. Visitation will be Thursday from noon to 8 PM at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 5 to 8 PM. Memorials may be directed to his family for a future designation.
