James L. Petrillo Jr.

October 24, 1961 — January 3, 2020

James Petrillo, 58, of Urbandale passed away on January 3, 2020 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale. The funeral service will be at 7:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. James was born October 24, 1961 to James Sr. and Sandra Petrillo. He graduated from Keokuk High School in 1980 and went on to get his bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and minor in Journalism from the University of Iowa. James married his wife Sandra on August 17, 1996. He worked at Principal Financial for 20 years. James was a great family man and friend, who enjoyed spending time with his two sons. Many would describe him as a witty, caring, people person. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to music, watching movies, coaching his boys’ sports teams, playing golf with his friends, and riding his motorcycle. He was lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and Iowa Hawkeyes. He is survived by his wife, Sandy; children, Grant and Sam; father; James Sr.; sister Lisa Hejazi; and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra; and grandparents Hazel and Louie Whitlow and Lee and Mari Petrillo. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family.
