Evelyn Marie Avitt, 90, passed into God’s loving arms at Trinity Center in Des Moines, on Wednesday, May 24th at 3:30 a.m. A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 27 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel with burial at Oakdale Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. before services. Evelyn was born in Clinton, Iowa to Marguerite and Joseph Bennett on March 20, 1927. She was united in marriage to Glen Neils Christiansen on March 1, 1947 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She was a loving mother to Sue (Mark) Griswold, Dennis (Fran) Christiansen, Larry (Karen) Christiansen, Jame (Colleen) Christiansen, Penny (John) Zaun and Todd (Lisa) Christiansen. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She and her family moved to Adel, Iowa in February of 1969 to operate Central Harvestore. She was preceded in death by her parents; her only sibling, Joanne Bennett; and her husband, Glen. Memorial contributions may be directed to Trinity Center at Lutheran Park or Unity Hospice in Des Moines. Online condolences may be left on this site.
