Obituary for James Blomme

James Phillip Blomme passed away peacefully on July 26, 2018.

James was born on August 27, 1937 in Davenport, IA to Arthur Blomme and Mary Elizabeth Morrow Blomme. He was a graduate of Ottumwa High School. He served in the U.S. Navy. James graduated from St. Joseph Hospital School of Radiology. He began as an X-Ray tech and advanced to Director or Radiology at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, WI, St Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD, and Mgr. at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN. He returned to Iowa and finished his career at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ellen (Ullrich); 6 children, Jennifer Blomme of Hot Springs, AR, Anne (Bruce) Walker of Boulder, CO, Sarah Blomme of Milwaukee, WI, Martha (Jeff) Hallett of Waukesha, WI, David (Jane) Blomme of Madison, WI, Mary (Phillip) Frances Blomme-Atwood of Towson, MD; 10 grandchildren, Christopher, Lauren, and Michael Walker, Zachary, Jacob, Matthew, Sam Hallett, Emilie and Gracie Blomme, and Samantha Atwood; 3 “greats”, Charlie Rose, Grayson, and Isla Walker; 2 sisters, Sue Archer and Phyllis Blomme.

He loved his chosen profession and going to work every day. He loved his family most of all and looked forward to the next “adventure”.

We know his heavenly adventure will be the best.
